1. The Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Prague, Czech Republic
The Department of Animated Film (KAT) at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) houses bachelors, masters, and certificate programs in Animated Film. All programs take place in a hands-on professional studio environment. Other highlights include access to state-of-the-art production equipment in Studio FAMU; small class sizes; courses taught by industry professionals; and internship opportunities. The culminating experience for the programs is a short animated film and presentation at FAMUFEST.
FAMU alumni won at least six Oscars and secured positions at places such as Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), Pixar, DNEG, Lucasfilm, DreamWorks, Weta FX, Disney, Alkay Animation Prague, and MAUR Film.
2. Anomalia, Cesky Krumlov and Litomysl, Czech Republic
Anomalia provides intensive production programs that take place in s simulated studio environment. Mentors for the programs come from places such as Nickelodeon, DreamWorks, Sony Pictures Animation, Insomniac Games, Pixar, Lucasfilm, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), Netflix, Activision, and Warner Bros. Program examples include From Animator to Game Animator: Boss Fight Lab; Character Design Systems Lab; Procedural World Systems in Unreal; Art Director on Location: From Reality to Fantasy; Game Narrative Lab; and Art Direction Track. Each program is residential, highly immersive, and demanding, culminating with a market-ready film or other work.
