1. Nanyang Polytechnic, Ang Mo Kio, Singapore
The School of Design and Media (SDM) at Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) houses an Animation, Games and Visual Effects (VFX) diploma program that takes just three years to complete. Students may specialize in Animation, Games or Visual Effects. A major component of the program is the mandatory 24-week internship with opportunities to work at major studios such as Lucasfilm, Pixar, Disney, Ubisoft, and Weta FX. NYP internships are mandatory and last 24 weeks. The program culminates with a final project and professional portfolios. Graduates can be found at places such as Sony Pictures Imageworks, DNEG, Netflix Animation, AMC Studios, Polygon Pictures, CraveFX, and Method Studios.
2. Singapore Polytechnic, Dover, Singapore
Singapore Polytechnic (SP) is the oldest polytechnic in Singapore. Established in 1954, the school houses a Media, Arts and Design (Animation and Games) program with two tracks including 3D Art: Effects for Animation and Games, and Interactive Media: Immersive Application Development. Students in both tracks will complete a 22-week internship at places such as Mediacorp or Offeo. The program culminates with the Final Year Project (FYP) in animation, games, application development, or other related area. Graduates are prepared to pursue a bachelor’s degree at one of more than 150 institutions worldwide. Program alumni are also prepared to pursue titles such as 2D Animator, Character Artist, 3D Animator, Interactive Designer, Mobile Application Developer, Environment Artist, or Gameplay Developer.
