Scope of Program:
Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy offers two-year degree programs in media arts. Students in the Animation and Visual Effects program take courses in character animation, rigging, lighting and texturing, visual effects and compositing and filmmaking for animators during the first year of study. They also participate in Production-in-Action, a three-week experience during which students work with industry professionals to solve real-world problems and work with a project production team. During the second year, students choose one of three focus tracks – Compositing, Modeling or Character Animation – and take several courses in that focus area. Second-year students also take part in Flashpoint Studios, creating products for real-world clients and building their demo reels.
Game and Interactive Design students concentrate on game design and development, game studio, game art, and game production management during the first year of study. They participate in Production-in-Action, developing game mods and small apps while working with industry mentors. Second year students choose from four focus tracks – Game Art, Game Design, Game Producing and Project Management and Game Programming. They, too, take part in Flashpoint Studios, using game technology to develop products and solutions for outside clients.
An interview is required for acceptance into Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy. An application portfolio is encouraged but not required.
