Scope of Program:
The University of Maryland's flagship campus, located in College Park and referred to by locals as "University of Maryland, College Park" or "College Park," offers Studio Art concentrations in Graphic Design and Digital Media. Studio Art students must complete a foundational program, which includes courses in 3D art, drawing, art history and intermediate studio. Digital Media students focus on computer graphics, digital imaging, mixed media, and critical theory of new media. Graphic Design
students take courses in graphic design and illustration, 3D graphics, visual culture and print publication design.
Master's degree candidates in Digital Media/New Genre take art history, theory and studio courses, participate in graduate colloquia and create a thesis exhibition. Fellowships and teaching assistantships are available.
M. F. A. applicants must submit a portfolio. Art and design scholarships are available in addition to need-based scholarships.
