Scope of Program:
B. F. A. candidates take foundation courses in 2D and 3D design and drawing in addition to art core courses in drawing, sculpture, ceramics or fibers, print media and photography or printmaking. Graphic Design students must pass a portfolio review after completing their first two graphic design courses. They then focus on digital media, motion graphics, digital imaging, design practicum, portfolio preparation and art history. All students create a capstone project.
M. F. A. candidates in the Graphic Design program focus on art history, studio work, research and critical analysis. All students create a thesis project.
A portfolio and two years of professional graphic design experience are required to apply to the M. F. A. program. Art, merit and need-based scholarships are available, as are graduate teaching assistantships. Missouri residents are encouraged to apply for state grants and scholarships.
