Scope of Program:
Students wishing to enter the University of Nevada, Reno's B. F. A. program must complete 60 credit hours of study in the B. A. program before applying. The application process includes a portfolio review. All Digital Media students complete core coursework in visual foundations, drawing, art history, visual arts and intermedia studio as well as advanced courses in digital media, sound and image, imaging and mixed media and new media art. B. F. A. candidates must create both a progress exhibition and a thesis exhibition.
Master's degree candidates concentrate on art theory and criticism, visual arts, intermedia, studio practices and community service in the arts. All students must create a progress exhibition after 30 credit hours of study and a final thesis exhibition. They must also write a thesis paper and pass oral examinations.
Art scholarships are available, as are need-based and merit scholarships. Residents of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming are eligible for the Western Undergraduate Exchange, which offers discounted tuition rates. WUE participants must live on campus during their first year of study
