Scope of Program:
Studio Art undergraduates at the University of New Orleans must complete core coursework before beginning studies in their areas of concentration. Core courses include design, drawing, digital design, sculpture, painting, imaging and art history. Digital Media students then focus on advanced imaging, printmaking, digital media and photography. A senior project is required.
Master's degree candidates must complete 25 credit hours of study before applying to their major and minor studios. Once accepted for candidacy, students then concentrate on art history, graduate-level seminar work, studio art and thesis development. Students must pass oral examinations and a portfolio review before advancing to the thesis stage of their program.
All undergraduate Studio Art majors must complete 9 to 12 credit hours of foreign language study. The University of New Orleans offers both merit and need-based scholarships. Graduate assistantships are available.
