Scope of Program:
All Digital Arts students at the University of Wisconsin – Parkside begin their studies with core coursework in 2D and 3D design, drawing and digital art. They must pass a portfolio review after completing the first course in their concentration. Animation students may choose the 2D sequence or 3D sequence. Students in both sequences complete courses in life drawing, printmaking, animation analysis, 3D studio, aesthetics and art criticism and art history. 2D students focus on digital video, computer illustration, interactive character analysis and advanced 2D animation. 3D students concentrate on digital video, web design for animators, interactive character analysis and advanced 3D animation. All students complete a senior studio seminar or internship.
Graphic Design students concentrate on typography, studio arts, art history, aesthetics and art criticism, digital photography, digital imaging, packaging design, graphic design techniques, web design for graphic designers and advanced graphic design. All students complete a senior studio seminar or internship.
Illustration students focus on life drawing, painting, studio arts, art history, computer illustration, advanced computer illustration, aesthetics and art criticism and independent studies in illustration. All students complete an internship or senior seminar.
Web Design students complete coursework in life drawing, printmaking, painting, 3D studio, art history, aesthetics and art criticism, web interface design, web concepts, interactive character animation, digital video and advanced web design. All students complete an internship or senior seminar.
Merit and need-based scholarships are available. Residents of Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and North Dakota may be eligible for Midwestern Student Exchange Program tuition discounts. Minnesota residents may apply for tuition reciprocity. Wisconsin residents are encouraged to apply for state-sponsored scholarships and grants.
