Tuition Information: Undergraduate resident tuition $8,762 for lower division students, $9,680 for upper division; nonresident lower division students $21,494, upper division $23,934 for the 2011 – 2012 school year. Lower division students also pay fees of $1,400 per year, while upper division students pay fees of $1,020 per year.

Scope of Program:
Western Michigan University requires all B. F. A. candidates to complete foundation coursework in object drawing, form and surface, form and space and drawing studio. Graphic Design students then focus on art history, color, photography, visual aesthetics, visual systems, typography, graphic form and design applications. Students create a senior project and graduation presentation, and all Graphic Design students must complete an internship. Photography and Intermedia students concentrate on art history, photography, video art, intermedia, web art, graphic design and digital photography. Students create a graduation presentation. All B. F. A. candidates must apply to their programs; a portfolio review is required for admission.
Graphic Design and Photography and Intermedia students must purchase a MacBook Pro laptop computer. Merit and need-based scholarships are available. Michigan residents are encouraged to apply for state scholarships and grants.
