Scope of Program:
B. A. and B. S. candidates in Interdisciplinary Expressive Arts complete the B. A. Core, which includes coursework in 2D and 3D design, drawing, 4D media, studio art, life drawing and art history. They continue with coursework in digital literacy, image and sound, design theory, sound creation, editing image and text, creative interface and live and installation art. B. S. candidates must complete six credit hours in mathematics, statistics and/or computer science beyond Western New Mexico University's general education requirements; B. A. candidates must complete one upper-division Spanish course.
B. F. A. candidates may apply to the program after completing three semesters of art coursework. B. F. A. core courses must be chosen from art, interdisciplinary expressive arts, digital media communications and music, then complete coursework in image and sound, design theory, creative interface, movement and performance and story creation. Students complete a capstone project and internship; they also create a B. F. A. exhibition. Students must pass a final portfolio review in order to graduate.
Merit, art and need-based scholarships are available. Colorado residents and residents of El Paso, Texas may apply for tuition waivers.
