An animation school with high enrollment figures can be a good thing and a bad thing. For the school, a large number of animation students might be the only thing it needs to convince potential students that it’s a “good” school. On the other hand, high enrollment figures may give college ranking agencies the opposite impression. Smaller class sizes means more individual attention, and individual attention maters when it comes to ranking the best of the best.
In addition to faculty resources, such as student-faculty ratio, many respected college ranking agencies consider common factors such as financial resources, program offerings, peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, and student selectivity when ranking the best of the best. For example, a school that has a high graduation rate, small classes, and a rigorous admissions process may rank higher than a school with large classes, a slightly difficult admissions process, and a lower graduation rate.
In the state of New Jersey, there are more than 65 accredited colleges and universities. Although this is lower than the national average of 90, New Jersey is still home to some of the best institutions in the nation (if not the world). Princeton University, for example, tied Harvard University for the number one spot on the 2012 list of Best Colleges in the U.S. This proves that quantity doesn’t always win over quality!
The great thing about New Jersey animation schools is that you won’t find a large number in any one area. You can find them in cool cities, bustling boroughs, and unique townships throughout the state. Just a few of the state’s best animation programs are offered at Montclair State University, Bloomfield College, and William Patterson University in Wayne.
