Scope of Program:
California State University Chico offers interdisciplinary degree programs in Communication Design with a Graphic Design option and in Electronic Arts with a Computer Animation Studio pattern. Electronic Arts Computer Animation Studio students focus on a wide range of art and computer graphics skills, including 3D modeling, computer animation, ceramics, drawing, digital photography and electronic arts. Students must complete an internship. Graphic Design students concentrate on visual communications concepts, print production, typography, copywriting and computer graphics. A portfolio review course is required for graduation. Students create a professional portfolio and may participate in an internship if they wish. All students are eligible to apply for study abroad programs. Need-based and merit-based scholarships are available.
California State University Chico is an “impacted campus,” which means many more prospective students apply than can be accepted. As such, California State University Chico must restrict the number of incoming freshmen and transfer students it accepts, particularly from outside its state-designated “local area.” This is typically accomplished by imposing additional eligibility standards (e.g. higher standardized test score/grade point average combination, called the “eligibility index”).
Non-residents pay a tuition rate of $372 per semester hour in addition to in-state registration fees. Need-based and merit-based scholarships are available.
