Scope of Program:
The Corcoran College of Art + Design is affiliated with the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. Corcoran students have the opportunity to intern at many of the prestigious museums in the District of Columbia and to visit some of the best-known art galleries and museum in the United States. Freshmen at the Corcoran College of Art + Design participate in a foundation year, which includes coursework in art history, writing, communication design, drawing, visual concepts, optical culture and photography.
Associates and Bachelor's degree candidates in Digital Media Design take courses in Flash animation, digital design, digital media culture and interactive Web design. Bachelor's degree candidates may participate in internships, and they complete a senior thesis. Graphic Design students focus on typography, modern art, drawing for animation, psychology of creativity and contemporary culture. Bachelor's degree candidates complete a senior thesis and may participate in internships if they wish.
A portfolio is required for admission to the B. F. A. program and strongly encouraged for admission to the A. F. A. program. Merit scholarships are available.
