Scope of Program:
Studio Art students at Fairmont State University may choose the Cross-Media Track. Students in the Cross-Media Track focus on art history, 2D and 3D design, life drawing, studio arts, electronic foundations, virtual exhibitions and intermediate and advanced electronic art. All students must pass a sophomore portfolio review and create a capstone project.
Contemporary Fine Arts Technology students concentrate on drawing, 2D and 3D design, graphic communications processes, electronic foundations, painting, photography, sculpture, internet animation, computer applications to graphics, art history, graphic design, graphic methods and materials, internet publishing and advanced photography. All students complete a graphics practicum and create a virtual exhibition.
Graphics Engineering Technology students complete coursework in 2D and 3D design, graphic communications processes, introduction to technology, computer applications to graphics, computer concepts and applications, graphic methods and materials, desktop publishing, graphic design, image editing, photography, motion graphics, technical writing, interactive and multimedia design, animation studio, multipage documents and design, exhibition design and development and branding and identification design. All students complete a graphics practicum and create a portfolio.
Art, merit and need-based scholarships are available, as are out-of-state neighbor scholarships. Residents of West Virginia are encouraged to apply for state-sponsored grants and scholarships.
