If you’ve ever wondered how any given animation school ends up on the list of top schools, there might be a simple answer. A number of education bloggers, students and student groups, alums, small media companies, and others create these lists based on a variety of factors that affect everything from finances to quality of campus life. Just a few factors considered include tuition cost, location, job placement, types of clubs and organizations, cultural activities, and student life.
You may have seen a number of listings for best schools online as well. Unlike “top” lists, “best” lists are usually created by prestigious organizations and news agencies such as U.S. News & World Report, Forbes, Princeton Review, and MSNBC. To determine which schools belong on the “best” list, they typically consider other factors such as graduation and retention rates, peer assessment, faculty resources (student-teacher ratio), financial resources, program offerings, and student selectivity. While different factors determine which schools will make either list, not surprisingly, many schools end up on both lists!
