Scope of Program:
B. A. and B. F. A. candidates in the Graphic Design concentration at UNLV complete core art classes in drawing, design, 3D design and art history. They continue with coursework in graphic design, photography, typography, layout, advertising design and branding. B. F. A. candidates must complete a fifth year of study, consisting of research, independent studio work and creation of a B. F. A. exhibit.
M. F. A. candidates in Graphic Design participate in graduate faculty studios and studio practices seminars and complete courses in art history, art theory and/or directed reading. They must create a graduate exhibition and thesis as well as pass oral examinations.
A portfolio is required with the M. F. A. application. Art, need-based and merit scholarships are available, as are graduate assistantships. Applicants for art scholarships must submit a portfolio. Residents of "Good Neighbor" counties are eligible for reduced tuition rates. "Good Neighbor" counties include Mohave County in Arizona and Alpine, El Dorado, Inyo, Lassen, Modoc, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, San Bernardino and Sierra Counties in California.
