Scope of Program:
Digital Technology and Culture students at Washington State University complete core courses in multimedia authoring, electronic research and the rhetoric of information, digital diversity, language, texts and technology and art, science and technology. They continue with coursework in digital storytelling, digital media for print and web and digital media for video and sound. All students complete a senior seminar or internship. Students who choose the Culture and Technology concentration focus on rhetoric, digital literacies, history in media and media, culture and society. Students in the Media Authoring concentration complete coursework in digital animation, digital storytelling, usability and interface design and advanced digital animation. Students choosing the Digital Information Management concentration complete a minor in Business Administration with a focus on Management Information Systems topics.
Fine Arts students who choose the Digital Media concentration complete foundation courses in 2D and 3D concepts, then focus on print-based digital media, time-based digital media, interactive media, digital imaging, art history, digital and photographic processes for printmaking and art, science and technology. B. A. candidates must complete a foreign language requirement. B. F. A. candidates must create a senior exhibition.
Fine arts, need-based and merit scholarships are available. Students may be assessed art fees of up to $25 per course. Residents of Washington are encouraged to apply for state-sponsored scholarships and grants.
