Scope of Program:
Students wishing to apply to the Art program at Western Illinois University must complete four prerequisite classes and pass an entry portfolio review. Students in the Graphic Design concentration focus on design, drawing, computer art, digital photography, nontraditional art and advanced graphic design.
The Instructional Simulation and Gaming program offers three separate options: Instructional Methods and Training, Instructional Multimedia and Web-based Development, and Instructional Simulation and Games. Students take introductory and intermediate courses in instructional design, instructional development, computer-based instruction, instructional technology and web-based instruction, then move into upper-division coursework in their chosen option.
Western Illinois University allows residents of Indiana, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin to pay in-state tuition rates. Entering freshmen and transfer students receive a four-year tuition cost guarantee; their tuition rates will not increase during that period. Scholarships are available; Illinois residents are encouraged to apply for state scholarships.
